For most of you out there, one of your biggest fears/worries could be meeting new people and what freshers is really like – it certainly was for me!
Having arrived in halls on the first possible day,my flat mates didn’t pitch up for 5 days, but that didn’t stop me! The main thing to remember is that everyone is in the same boat so don’t worry! I met some people from other flats in passing and ended up going to the Randy Dragon with them (our pub at the Student Union) and they have been firm friends ever since!
Another big worry for me was that because I had stopped drinking and clubbing some time before University, I didn’t know what to do, so I just waited until freshers to see what happened. It turned out that heading to the pub with your new friends is much more social and enjoyable. Whilst some did head out clubbing with tickets they had booked in advance, there was always some of our group who didn’t have tickets and so there was always company.
Fresher’s week was still masses of fun without necessarily requiring alcohol or clubbing so don’t worry if it’s not quite your thing! Having said that, for those of you that love night life – Glamorgan Uni’s own club at the Students Union is extremely modern and puts on a wide range of nights for you all!
