Hey guys, hope you are all well! Apologies for the delay in posting this weeks blog, but I have finally caught the inevitable and come down with a serious case of man flu…not good! Work at university has just started getting harder too, so things are starting to get a little more busy now!
This week I thought I would step away from the normal blog topics and pull out a bit of student cooking – if you’re a fresher then it might help you out with getting going on the cuisine front, and if you are still at college or equivalent, then why not have a go at making it..try it out and treat the ‘rents:) nothing like a good bit of fresh cooking!
So..spag bol! Sorry if some of you know how to make it already, but I figured it was best to cover a dish that everyone knows:)
You will need:
1 or 2 onions
2 to 3 cloves of garlic
3 cans chopped tomatoes
1 big pack of mince
4 rashers of bacon
Worcestershire sauce (to taste)
Herbs from supermarket (optional)
2 carrots diced
Okay so, first things first – grab the mince and the bacon – cook it on a medium heat. Once cooked, chop bacon into small bits. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, empty in your diced onions, carrots and garlic. Again, cook this on a medium heat for 3 minutes just to let it all soften up slightly. Then you can add the chopped tomatoes. When it comes to the boil, you can add Worcestershire sauce and the herbs to taste, along with the mince and bacon. If you wanted, you could add chillies for a little spice, or peas/courgettes etc if you are keen on veg.
Other than that, all you need to do is cook some spaghetti, and then serve up 🙂
I hope that helps for some of you who are maybe feeling a little guilty eating out of cans / pot noodles, etc, but here’s your chance to cook fresh 🙂
