Finally it’s holiday time!!! Mad rush to do all the christmas shopping though. Hope everyone is well:) Even though my holidays began on Friday, things have already been seriously busy for me – I’m heavily involved in something which I thought I would share with you all in this blog, since it is quite unique!
I am part of a group attempting to set a new world record! Something never been done before… and the reason for that is that we are attempting a gruelling and physically/mentally demanding challenge. We have named ourselves the ‘Open RIB Challenge’ which might give you a clue as to what it is about! We are going to circumnavigate one entire lap of the world in an open RIB (Rigid Inflateable Boat). A RIB is a type of boat which has no cabin and so therefore no means of enclosed quarters for the crew. We are going to do this challenge in a certain sized RIB which has never been done before. Guinness World Records have approved of our plans.
Sounds pretty crazy right? Well it is really! Unfortunately I couldn’t commit to being part of the boat crew for this challenge because I will be embarking on the first job of my career (hopefully) by this time, as the start of the challenge is 2014. Job permitting though, I will be part of the land crew which meet the team in each port where they have to stop off to restock on fuel, food and the like. Currently we are heavily snowed under with planning, but all areas of the challenge are starting to take form, which is really exciting for all of us on the team!
As you might be able to imagine, this challenge is set to be huge!!! Ideally, you will hear a lot more about us over the TV news and the internet as the challenge date draws nearer. We will in the process of this world record attempt, be raising money for 3 chosen charities, so a lot of good is set to come from this too.
So there we go – that’s a little insight into where a lot of my spare time has been going and will be for the near future too! I’d love to hear back from you if you have any thoughts/comments about the challenge we are attempting to do!
For those of you who are interested, please take a second to check out our website where you can read about our world record attempt in a lot more detail. From there you can also find us on Facebook and Twitter. http://openribchallenge.com/
Have a great week guys and I’ll catch you next week:) J
