Hey everyone, hope everyone has had a quality start to 2013! I had a great night with friends seeing the new year in, with fireworks and all the usual! Thankfully I didn’t get hit this year though! (I once got hit in the knee by a rogue firework).. cool story right? Well anyway, 2013 beginning brings about something else – term 2!
Having piled through coursework this holiday, I’m looking forward to handing that in at the start and having a bit of breathing space (hopefully) for a while. But it is crazy to think that I have 12 weeks of this term, and then I have finished my lectures for the year! One thing about uni studies is that they fly by so much quicker than school! I must admit, whilst I am loving my studies, I am very much looking forward to cracking on with summer 2013 (who isn’t) and hopefully starting off a new job come september for my work placement year:)
On the placement front, I am still in the process of doing applications, visiting a company or two and the like. I’m really hoping I can get a placement sorted soon so then I can know where I will be located next year and find a nice place to live:) In other news I have been VERY lucky – Grandma has given me her car (what a legend!). Unfortunately my land rover is very difficult and expensive to insure at the moment, so now if I can’t insure it ready for my work placement in September, at least I don’t have to go car hunting:)
To give you a summary of term 2 – on top of your normal lectures, you will endure a couple of courseworks usually as a fresher, and then just like me, you will be done in March for easter. Following which, all is left is 1 week of revision lectures and then 2 weeks of exams if you have them. Some people don’t seem to have any which is crazy and completely unfair!! Imagine finishing Uni in March and having until October off! Sounds like a dream but at the same time, I reckon it would be pretty boring to have that long off! 4 and a half months was long enough in my eyes haha.
As some of you may know, our uni is due to merge with Newport Uni, and so our new name will be the University of South Wales – I thought I would pre warn you for that time when the name officially changes! But I believe it has been in the news already so some of you may know.
As promised last week, a weekly quote to finish my blog on: “A vaincre sans péril, on triomphe sans gloire.” This is in French and means: “To win without risk is a triumph without glory.” – Corneille.
Have a great week and catch you all soon! J
