Hey everyone, hope you’re all well! So, we have finally had snow 😀 took a while coming but it’s been great – Uni was shut on Friday for the weekend and I am lucky enough to have Monday off this week so I am currently enjoying a nice 4 day weekend!! I’ve managed to get 2 courseworks out of the way which is a great feeling – I only have two on the go now! It would be great to have another heavy set of snow though – I reckon with another few days off uni I could get another CW out of the way!
Now, on the whole, my friends all know me as quite sensible especially when it comes to finances – I have a spreadsheet covering all my different expenditures and it does some basic calculations for me to give me an overall result. And I’m a careful spender. However… I do occasionally go wild. And this week has been one of those times. I was browsing Amazon’s warehouse deals and I managed to come across an instrument I didn’t really know much about, so I youtube’d it and it looked and sounded great. I think you can see where this is going! So, I’ve ordered a new musical instrument for me to teach myself and it should hopefully be arriving today! Want to know what it is?? Well, it’s a secret 🙂 I’ll probably tell you all here next week, so tune in, and I may even put a pic up!
I did a similar thing last year – I decided to buy a cajon (a peruvian box drum that you sit on and play with your hands) and that has been great fun to teach myself! That was considerably more expensive to buy though than what I have just bought. If you fancy seeing the cajon in action, then here are two links to a couple of covers I did with some friends – Lego House and When You’re Gone. Would love to know what you think so post me a comment here or on my facebook n let me know your opinion! As some of you may know from my info here, I did actually enter into 2011/2012 Britain’s Got Talent, doing Lego House with my friends. Unfortunately we didn’t get past the 2nd stage, but it was good fun anyway 🙂
I recently just started playing with a new 3-man band here at Uni. It’s surprisingly easy to get something organised – I put up adverts on the University’s internal marketplace website where only students can see, and I had enough responses to get something sorted! We are hoping to make use of the Atrium campus music room facilities and do some recording, so hopefully in a while I might be able to post up some newer cover videos!
So keep your fingers crossed for some more snow and I’ll be posting up in a week’s time! 🙂 In the meantime, here’s this weeks quote 🙂 J
