Hey guys, I hope you’re all well and exams aren’t getting you down too much! It certainly can be a stressful time, which is why I’ve focused my last few blogs on how best to deal with this season, and even how to make the most of it. Last week I talked about my top 5 tips for undertaking revision, which you can read here if you haven’t seen it yet.
This week, I’m going to talk about motivation: that one thing we all need in order to really excel during exam season rather than just breeze through. I myself have found that it can be really difficult to ‘get the ball rolling’ for revision, possibly because you feel bored, or tired – the reasons we can produce for procrastinating could fill a book! But whilst procrastinating is the easy option – it also can leave you feeling a little low and guilty because you haven’t achieved what you know you need to. And it can nag at you, right?
No more! 🙂 I can tell you right now that the best way to solve all of those feelings, is to just bite the bullet and sit down with a revision book. Have a read through and start to learn. Every little fact you learn and remember is one more step towards your goal. So don’t take the approach that is so easy to do and feel like there is so much to do/learn that it is impossible. Because nothing is impossible and impossible is nothing. You’ll be amazed how much better you feel by getting stuck in and realising that you can do it!
Make sure you remind yourself of your successes and reward yourself when you deserve it! It’s important you look after yourself during this stressful season both physically and mentally – so that means get a bit of exercise in if you can, even if its just a walk, along with a healthy diet, regular snacks, plenty of water for concentration, and maintain your social life! Arrange a trip to the pub with your friends, or similiar, outside of your revision hours.
I decided to get out and escape from my desk just yesterday, and so I ended up climbing Pen Y Fan and Corn Du which are two mountains in the Brecon Beacons, with a couple of friends. With some gorgeous scenery just 45 mins away from Treforest campus, it seemed like a good idea. And boy did it remind me how unfit I’ve become since the hockey season finished! But it was great and felt like such an achievement when we reached the top! So below is a shot as I reached the peak/summit, along with Niamh the husky 🙂
I hope you all feel a bit more motivated now you’ve read this blog, so waste no time – get straight to revision! It will all be worth it 🙂 J
