Hey guys! I hope everyone’s well and enjoying this amazing weather – lets hope it sticks around for a while! It certainly makes breaks from revision much nicer – being able to go out and sit in the sun, or maybe you’ve even been revising in the sun! Get a tan and learn at the same time!
Just recently as some of you may have read in my blogs, I got lucky and won a smartphone and a University Innovation Award – well at the bottom of the blog is a photo of myself, my team mate (centre) and another winner all receiving our awards with a few members of staff. I found the competition advertised on Glamlife, which I mentioned in a previous blog, and so I decided to enter along with my coursemate Matt. We had to design the content for a smartphone app for a local law firm. So we set about researching the area of law that the company were involved with, along with social media marketing strategies, which is something I find rather interesting. I get a fair amount of work doing this type of thing already, thanks to my role as Marketing Manager for the Open RIB Challenge – my world record attempt.
So we managed to produce a proposal for the app which we were both really proud of – it showed strong research, provided interesting ideas for the app and the content to go with it. We were then lucky enough to win!
The reason I mention this as a blog is for this reason – it’s that classic phrase “you have to be in it to win it!” But also – from a CV point of view, having gone the extra mile in these little ways can really help to fill your CV with interesting skills and make you more employable. So if you see opportunities like this at any point, grab them with both hands, because you never know what it might lead to! 🙂
